Of the three books, this may have the most unusual premise: a conventional mystery placed against the largest possible deadline.

Time-travel tourism sounds extraordinary until money, power and the temptation to interfere with the past begin creating dangers that cannot be contained by an itinerary. This was the premise I found most fascinating.
